Oh look, it is another comic.

I love it to death, but after three-plus months of plugging away on Secret Project, I've reached that nadir every artist feels where they just want to gouge out their eyes and be done with it forever. I'm sure it'll pass, and once it's done, it'll turn out great. But coloring at the rate of two pages a day for another week does not look inviting, to say the least.

One more little side project as a change of pace. Jhonen Vasquez, popularly known as the dark wizard of the comics realm, has begun a little contest in which participants illustrate one of his many bizarre, funny, and needless to say illustrative Tweets. My entry can be viewed below - be warned, it's a tad grisly. This is, after all, fromVasquez's Twitter.

Winners get one of his sweet new posters. That's cool enough of a prize as it is, but I'm mostly entering as an opportunity for him to see my stuff. His work in comics and animation was the first to make me seriously consider a future in comics - my fondest middle school memories were sneaking his comics into school like they were wicked contraband, and sharing them with my friends. I found many many more influences along the way, but Vasquez's Squee has a special place in there.
So this is for him. Thanks, Jhonen. If it weren't for you, I would have become an astronomer or something.

So they sat in the cave (the cave!)
